Vlastislav Hofman (1884–1964), designer, painter and architect, a leading figure among the Czech Modernists who came on the scene in the first decade of the twentieth century. Together with Pavel Janák and Josef Gočár he was one of the chief proponents of Czech Cubism – an internationally unique movement that applied the ideas of Cubist painters in architecture and the decorative arts.
The current publication, lavishly illustrated and with contributions by leading scholars, is the first to show Hofman’s life and works in all dimensions – architecture, applied art, painting, illustration and stage design.
