The translation of Janák’s pictorial monograph by Austrian author Norbert Kiesling, with more than six hundred colour reproductions, provides an erudite and sensitive insight into all the facets of the architect’s life and work.
Besides general contexts and biographical minutiae, we find here a full list of Janák’s works in the fields of monumental architecture, residential architecture, industrial and garden architecture, conservation and heritage work at Prague Castle, interiors, ceramics, glass, clocks, chandeliers etc. Other sections of the book make use of as yet unpublished personal correspondence and memoirs of Pavel Janák, with lists and a selection of published texts and, to conclude, a detailed bibliography.
